City Football Club Abuja has announced on Monday in Abuja the transfer of six talented players to Fountain Gate FC in the Tanzanian Premier League for the 2025/2026 season.
The players making the move are:Henry David (Skillful Midfielder),Jonathan Habakkuk (Defensive Midfielder),Onome Falodun (Central Midfielder),Chigozie Akabuike (Goalkeeper),Obinna Awara (Full Back) and Obasi MacDonald (Striker).
These players have been instrumental in City FC Abuja’s success, including promotion to the Nigeria National League.
David, Habakkuk, and Awara played pivotal roles in our remarkable promotion from the Nationwide League One (NLO) to the Nigeria National League (NNL) earlier this year.
Akabuike and MacDonald were key contributors during our NNL campaigns in the 2023/2024 season.
Falodun, a former Nigerian National Team representative in 2023, joined our ranks and made significant contributions, including participating in our memorable weeklong trip to Valencia in October 2023.
“ The club wishes them success and confidence they will continue to make us proud.
“ While we bid farewell to these remarkable players, we do so with immense pride and gratitude for their dedication, passion, and contributions to City FC.
“ Their presence will be deeply missed, but we are excited to see them showcase their talents on the international stage,” official.
It will be recalled that City FC Abuja recently participated in the Tanzanite Pre-Season International Tournament in Tanzania.
During the tournament, they experienced a dramatic interruption in one of their matches against JKU Sport Club when a swarm of bees invaded the pitch, forcing players and officials to lie flat on the ground. Despite the unusual distraction, City FC Abuja managed to secure a 2-1 victory.
The team had a successful campaign in the tournament, winning the title after defeating Namungo FC in the final through a penalty shootout, 4-3, following a goalless draw.

This victory marks a significant milestone for Club and underscores the growing influence of Nigerian clubs on the continental stage.
It’s great to see City FC Abuja nurturing elite football talent and helping them take their careers to the next level.
