Dr. Limota Giwa, Patron of the Congress for Sustainable Development of Nigeria (CSDN) called on stakeholders to work together to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030.
She made the call during the inauguration of Executive Committee Members of CSDN on Saturday in Abuja.
“ With only a few years left to meet the deadline,there is an urgent need for collective action to localize the SDGs and address challenges hindering progress.
Giwa highlighted the lack of training for line ministries and their staff as a significant challenge in implementing SDG-related projects and conventions.
She also emphasized the crucial role of non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in promoting sustainable development and providing entry points for students to engage with the UN system,” she said.
The Patron expressed happiness that the University of Abuja is training experts in sustainable development, which can help address the challenge of lack of training.
She expressed joy in seeing the organisation’s progress towards achieving the SDGs, while sharing insights with students of the University of Abuja on how much impact their little contributions can make on young people.
She urged stakeholders to collaborate and work towards localizing the SDGs, identifying challenges, and providing recommendations to the government and intergovernmental organizations.
