The Patron of the Congress for Sustainable Development of Nigeria (CSDN) has emphasized the need for synergy among government agencies, non-governmental organizations, and other stakeholders to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Speaking at the inauguration of new executives of the Congress, Dr. Limota Giwa-Assistant Director of the Center ,who is now the Patron highlighted the importance of tracking and monitoring the activities of line ministries to ensure effective implementation of SDG-related projects.
She noted that during the inauguration of Executive Committee Members of CSDN on Saturday in Abuja , despite the efforts of government and non-governmental organizations.
‘There is a lack of collective synergy in tracking and monitoring SDG -related projects.
The Patron emphasized that eradicating poverty requires a systematic approach, involving the decentralization of power and the involvement of local governments.
“ The need for accurate data collection on poverty levels, unemployment data and other socio-economic indicators to inform policy decisions.
She outlined a systematic approach to poverty eradication, including,decentralizing power to local governments to enable them to address poverty and other socio-economic challenges effectively.
“ Creating job centers and providing training and support to empower individuals and communities,allocating budgets effectively to support SDG-related projects and programs will help the process,” she said.
The Patron urged stakeholders to work together to achieve the SDGs, emphasizing that collective action is necessary to address the challenges facing Nigeria.
She also emphasized the importance of institutionalizing a systematic approach to poverty eradication and SDG implementation.
