CF Carthage Confirms quarterfinal spot In African women’s volleyball club championship in Abuja

Two-time champions  club Femini De carthage (CFC ) of Tunisia are through to the quarterfinals after a 3-0 (25-11, 25-17, 25-20) win over Sococim of Senegal ( SOC) in their round of sixteen tie.

SOC of Senegal got off to a shaky start with a number of faults and trailed 8-1.

CFC team raised their game and went on spiking killing spree to lead 16-8. SOC nailed a spike, however the CFC continued to confidently take the set 25-11.

It looked like SOC had found a burst of energy in the second set. They hustled for every ball with some great diving saves to come out 11-11. It wasn’t to last. CFC attacked hard and a few CFC errors meant they were on the losing side. The Senegalese team weren’t up to the task of marching this Tunisian outfit, CFC won the 2nd set 25-17.

CFC were leading 13-4 when SOC responded with a 13-8 led, forcing CFC to call a timeout. SOC closed it with a block and an ace to the surprised of CFC. CFC took the final points to win 25-20 and secure their spot in the quarterfinals.
