Bayelsa Queens FC on Thursday whitewashed Espoir FC of Benin Republic 4-0 in the last Group B game of the ongoing Betsy Obaseki Women Football Tournament (BOWFT).
The game played at the University of Benin Sports Stadium saw both teams pressed to get a goal, but the first half ended goalless with Bayelsa Queens dominating the game as the Yenagoa based side looked hungrier.
In the second half, Bayelsa Queens came out firing on all cylinders and in the 49th minute, Mercy Omokwo got the curtain raiser with a beautiful finish in the 47th minutes and the Prosperity Girls extended their lead in the 65th minute to make it 2-0.
With two goals behind, Espoir FC came out pressing to reduce the deficit, but the defense of the Prosperity Girls thwarted all their efforts and it was Bayelsa Queens that scored again to make it three-nil in the 71st minute through Mariam Muyideen to put the game beyond their opponent reach and Mercy Omokwo put the icing on the cake as she netted her brace in the 75 minutes of play to end the match 4-0.
Bayelsa Queens FC are the highest scoring side and with the best defense so far at the Betsey Obaseki Women Football Tournament (BOWFT) scoring 11 goals and conceding none.
