Abiriba king confident of Ahundiyyannen FC’s Triumph

Chief Ukpabi Oru, the king of Abiriba in Abuja,despite trailing 1-0 at halftime of the 2025 President Federation  cup , remains optimistic about  Ahundiyyannen FC’s chances of emerging victorious.

In an exclusive interview during the halftime break at the Area 3 football pitch on Wednesday in Abuja , the monarch expressed his unwavering confidence in the team’s ability to turn the game around.

“By God’s grace, we will turn this around.We have worked hard to develop a team that can represent Abia State, and it’s paying off.

“ We are aiming to win by 5-0 a wide margin and I firmly believe that our efforts will pay off,” he said.

Oru acknowledged the team’s humble beginnings, having started as a baby club that recently defeated Enyimba FC in the 2025 Abia FA Cup final.

“ I’m proud of our team manager, Dr. Chief Robert Onyeali a.k.a Roko who has been instrumental role in Ahundiyyannen FC’s success.

“With his experience as a former footballer and goal keeper, I have no doubt we will achieve great things.

“Dr Roko is a seasoned football administrator with a wealth of experienced.

“I have no doubt that under his guidance, we will achieve great things,” he said.

The king also emphasized the significance of the team’s name, Ahundiyyannen FC, which translates to “our mother” in the Abiriba language.

“In our kingdom, we hold women in high esteem.

He explained that the name Ahundiyyannen FC reflects our deep respect and appreciation for the important role women play in our society,” he said.

As the second half got underway, Chief Ukpabi Oru urged the players to remain focused and determined.

“I encourage the boys to play with passion and dedication,” he said. “We must press harder and create more scoring opportunities. With persistence and teamwork, I am confident that we will emerge victorious.”

The king also added that he encouraged the players to keep pushing, emphasizing the importance of consistency and hard work.
