Chinoye Aliyu, President of the Nigeria Aquatics Federation (NAqF), announced that the federation will host a Level 1 Swimming Coaches Certification Course from March 12 to March 15 at the National Stadium Surulere in Lagos.
According to Aliyu, this comprehensive course is designed to equip aspiring and existing swimming coaches and swimming teachers with the knowledge, skills, and certification required to excel in their roles.
The course aims to develop grassroots swimming talent and enhance coaching standards nationwide.
The four-day program will equip participants with fundamental knowledge and practical skills to effectively train and nurture young swimmers.
The course is part of the federation’s strategic plan to train and develop identified talent.
Additional coaching courses are planned for June or July, emphasizing practical training as key to coaching development.
The objective of the course is to equip coaches with modern techniques, rules, regulations and best practices
Participants will learn about water safety, mechanics, and training methodology, enabling them to develop structured training programs and identify young swimming talents.
The course will be led by certified international and national swimming experts, targeting swimming coaches, physical education teachers, swimming trainers, and lifeguards
. The federation aims to create a pool of certified coaches contributing to the growth and attainment of podium success.
