Since his election as President of the Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF) on June 13, 2017, Engineer Musa Nimrod has revolutionized volleyball in the country.
The Kaduna State Volleyball Association (KADSVA) honored Nimrod with an Award of Excellence, recognizing his outstanding contributions to volleyball development in Kaduna State and Nation on Tuesday.
Under his leadership, the country has become a force to be reckoned with in global volleyball.
Nimrod’s tenure has been marked by numerous achievements.
In 2018, Nigeria hosted the Under 21 Men’s Africa Volleyball Nations Cup in Abuja, while the senior women’s team participated in the Nations Championship in Cameroon.
The country also hosted the Zone 3 CAVB Championship in Lagos for the first time.
The NVBF’s momentum continued in 2019, with Nigeria’s U-19 team winning gold at the African Youth Games in Algiers, Algeria.
The senior women’s beach volleyball team qualified for the World Beach Volleyball Championship in Hamburg, Germany, while the country hosted the Zone 3 CAVB Championship in Lagos for the second time.
In 2020, Nigeria participated in its first-ever Snow Volleyball Championship in Brazil.
The following year 2021, the country hosted the Under 18 Girls and Under 19 Boys African Nations Championship in Abuja, with both teams qualifying for the World Championships in Mexico and Iran.
Under Nimrod’s guidance, the NVBF has successfully sustained the Nigeria Volleyball Premier League (NVPL) for seven consecutive years, attracting third-party sponsorship.
The federation has also revived the National Division 1 and 2 Volleyball Leagues and organized the President’s Beach Volleyball Cup annually for nearly a decade.
Nigeria recently hosted the African Boys Under 19 and Girls Under 17 Championship in Abuja, earning a spot in the World Youth Championship.
The U-19 Beach Volleyball team participated in the World Youth Championships in Thailand and China, while the female beach volleyball team secured a podium finish at the African Games in Accra, Ghana.

In his remarks, Nimrod, who is also the KADSVA Chairman, expressed gratitude for the recognition and pledged to continue supporting volleyball development in Nigeria.
“ I also promised to sustain his scholarship program for athletes, which has helped several players pursue their academic goals,” he said.
Engineer Musa Nimrod’s visionary leadership has transformed Nigerian volleyball, fostering grassroots development, international success, and significant achievements in the sport.
As Nigeria continues to make strides in global volleyball, Nimrod’s guidance will undoubtedly remain crucial to the country’s success.
