The President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau (MON), has reiterated his commitment to grassroots football development in Sokoto State.
Speaking at the final match of the Sokoto State Football Association Chairman Cup at the Giginya Memorial Stadium in Sokoto, President Gusau praised the Sokoto State FA for hosting a successful tournament.
The final match saw Lokoja FC defeat A.A Star FC in a penalty shootout after a 2-2 draw.
President Gusau expressed delight at the level of grassroots football in Sokoto State, but also expressed concern about the condition of the Giginya Memorial Stadium.
He pledged to collaborate with stakeholders to renovate the stadium to international standards, making it suitable to host high-profile matches, including those of the Super Eagles.
“I am impressed with the level of talent and enthusiasm displayed by the teams and fans during this tournament,” President Gusau said.
“However, I am also concerned about the state of the stadium. I promise to work with the relevant authorities to ensure that the stadium is renovated to meet international standards.”
President Gusau thanked the participating teams, fans, and the Sokoto State community for their support in making the tournament a success.
