The first phase of CAF C Licence Coaching course exclusive for women has ended in Abuja.
About 30 female coaches took part in the 10-day event that took place at the FIFA Goal project, Package B Abuja.
Speaking in an interview, Chief organizer of the event, Austin Eguaveon, Technical Director of the Nigeria Football Federation, who declared the coaching a success and revealed that the second stage will take place in August.
Eguavoen said It was a huge success, and I’m quite impressed. The positive thing is that there were a lot of participants who showed passion and took part.
I never anticipated the enthusiasm they directed toward the first module.
In other words, everyone was pleased about it. The anticipation, the delivery, and the intake were all present,” he said .
According to him, our approach was very different from how we used to present our lectures; instead, we always engaged in reflections and the days that followed, from day one to
day five, we have after lecture which concluded today.
“ By doing this, they were able to generate new ideas. They are now asked to attend their various clubs, which may include academics , large clubs League, or schools.
“ They will return with their log books, which contain numerous assignments that we have given them. They are going to return with those assignments,” he said .
Naturally, before they physically return with the assignments, they must send them through our departments for evaluation. We will, of course, also forward the assignments to CAF too.
“ The same thing would also happens in the second module before the final assignment is turned in.It will last the entire week, and everyone will need to read and learn continuously.
“ We have therefore charged them, and they now see the necessity since football’s future is now in their hands.
“ Their desire to become coaches will enable them to fulfill their dream of being outstanding coaches.
“ It’s difficult and demanding, and the positive feedback and strong demand should make them return yearning for more,” he said.
Nigeria has a promising future. The president’s statements informed them that the country’s geography is large enough and that there are plenty of resources in many areas that we can employ.
It could take place in clubs or schools; knowledge needs to be imparted, as does the manner in which they preside; ultimately, the manner in which they present is crucial.
Our goal is to prepare them for the future. Although we are not training people to be national team coaches, if you succeed over time and sell yourself, you will eventually be offered the chance to join the team.
The program is in three different modules, with the first concluded from July 15th – 25th July, to be followed by a two-week internship for the participants between 27th July – 7th August.
The participants will return to Abuja for the second module that is scheduled for 12th – 20th August, after which they will go on another two-week internship, 23rd August – 4th September.
The third module, which comes with examinations for the participants, will take place September 9th – 19th September.
