The organisers of the 27th Nigeria University Games Association (NUGA) have approved 22 sporting events for the forthcoming games, scheduled to take place at the University of Jos (UNIJOS), Plateau State, from November 6 to 16, 2025.
According to the NUGA Council, the approved sports for the 11-day university sports fiesta include rugby, tennis, table tennis, athletics, badminton, basketball, chess, cricket, handball.
Others judo, taekwondo, scrabble, swimming, football, volleyball, hockey, boxing, e-sports, rowing and yachting, karate, beach volleyball, and squash.
The University of Jos is hosting the national competition for the first time, and preparations are reportedly in top gear to receive contingents from universities across the country.
The NUGA Games, established in 1966, serve as a platform to promote unity, sportsmanship, and the discovery of young talents for national and international representation.
The university is working closely with the national body to ensure a successful event.
UNIJOS is ready to host Nigeria’s best student-athletes. All facilities meet national standards for participants have a memorable experience.
The 27th edition of the Games is expected to attract thousands of athletes, coaches, and sports enthusiasts from Nigerian universities, as well as stakeholders in the nation’s sports sector.
