… As Tournament Enters Final Group Matches on Friday
The Governor Douye Diri Female Pre-season Football Tournament returned on Thursday after a one-day break with interesting fixtures in the competition.
Rivers Angels of Port Harcourt in the first match of group A shared the spoils with Nasarawa Amazons, leaving Nasarawa Amazons with seven points and Rivers Angels on six points after four matches.
Hosts, Bayelsa Queens in the second match of the day at the Samson Siasia Stadium played out a one-all draw against Imo Strikers of Owerri. The Prosperity Girls are now on seven points same points with Nasarawa Amazons but are top of the group with superior goals difference.
Heartland Queens overpowered neighbours, Abia Angels by a lone goal in the third match of Matchday four while Bayelsa Princesses in the last tie of the day decided at the Samson Siasia Stadium held Edo Queens to a barren draw.
The final round of group matches will take place on Friday, October 24, 2025 as Imo Strikers entertain Delta Queens at 8:00am while Nasarawa Amazons will confront NWFL champions, Bayelsa Queens at 10:00am in what could be described as the star match of the day.
Edo Queens of Benin will keep a date with FC Robo Queens of Lagos at 2p.m. while Heartland Queens will face Bayelsa Princesses by 4:00pm at the Samson Siasia Stadium with semi final matches coming up on Saturday, October 25. The grand finale of the tournament will be decided on the Sunday, the 26th of this month.
