The stage is set for a pulsating finale in the Nigeria Football Coaches Association (NFCA )FCT Chapter NNL/ NLO Pre-Season Tournament as City FC lock horns with EFCC FC in what promises to be a blockbuster showdown on Sunday at 3 p.m. at the Area 3 Football Pitch, Abuja.
With the defending champions already out of contention, a new champion will be crowned this weekend — and both sides are primed for glory after thrilling semifinal performances.
City FC booked their place in the final with a commanding 2–0 victory over My Hope FC, displaying composure and tactical brilliance.
EFCC FC, on their part, edged out one of Abuja’s finest academy sides, Derby FC, with a narrow 1–0 win to set up a mouth-watering final clash.
Fans can expect nothing short of fireworks as City FC, freshly reinstated to the national league, aim to make a bold statement about their readiness to compete among the NNL elite. Meanwhile, EFCC FC — still smarting from their missed promotion opportunity — will be desperate to remember reclaim pride and prove their pedigree on the grand stage.
City FC Chairman, Chidi Okonkwo, a seasoned football administrator with stints across Africa — including roles with Ghana’s Horebian FC, Berekum Chelsea, and Swaziland’s Black Swallow FC — expressed confidence ahead of the showdown.
He expressed his team’s readiness for the final, praising the team’s dedication, enthusiasm, and resilience throughout the competition.
“ I believes the championship is a valuable platform for players to showcase their talents and measure their progress,” he said.
According to him, the team is driven by passion and sacrifice, and the competition provides a crucial opportunity for growth and skill development
“We are fully prepared for whatever EFCC bring to the table,” Okonkwo said.
“Abuja fans should brace themselves for one of the best finals in the history of this competition. We are here to win and take the bragging rights.”
The week-long tournament, which kicked off on October 14, features eight top-tier teams: City FC, Pride FC, Derby FC, Coal City FC, EFCC FC, Assess FC, My Hope FC, and Like Mind FC — all battling for supremacy and early bragging rights ahead of the new season.
