….Nigeria qualify for Africa Junior Teams’ Championship (AJC)
Team Nigeria’s U-12 girls squad has emerged champions of the ITF/CAT U-12 West African Junior Teams’ Championship, securing qualification to the Africa Junior Teams Championship (AJC).
The tournament took place from September 15-19, 2025, at the Gold Coast Tennis Club in Accra, Ghana,featured top junior teams from across West Africa, including Ghana, Togo, Benin, Liberia, and Sierra Leone.
Nigeria’s trio of Mofifunoluwa Atilola, Karina Opuene, and Mabubat Rasaki won all their matches, showcasing exceptional teamwork and grit.
Nigeria defeated hosts Ghana 3-0 in the girls’ final, demonstrating their superiority in the tournament.
This victory secures Nigeria’s place at the Africa Junior Teams Championship, where they will compete against top teams from across the continent .
The U-12 girls team excelled, winning all their matches and claiming the West African title.
Although the boys team gave a spirited performance, they fell short of qualification. However, the experience will help strengthen the Nigeria Tennis Federation’s commitment to nurturing young tennis champions.
Team Nigeria’s U-12 girls will now compete against the best teams from across Africa, representing West and Central Africa in the championship .
