The General Manager of Sokoto United Football Club, Alhaji Umar Maraya, has spoken on the club’s preparations ahead of the new season, placing emphasis on discipline, commitment, and continuity.
In his words:
“This new season is very important for Sokoto United. We have carefully reviewed the squad and taken the decision to retain players we believe can deliver for the club. All retained players must resume on or before Monday, 25th August 2025, as training will begin immediately. Any player who fails to resume as directed will face penalties.”
On players not retained, he added:
“To those whose names did not appear on the retained list, the club thanks you for your dedication and contribution. Football is a journey, and while our paths may part here, we sincerely wish you the very best in your careers. You are free to request for your clearance at the club office.”
The GM also sent a message of encouragement to the retained squad:
“Those retained must show full commitment to the club’s goals. This is a new season, and together we must work hard to make our supporters proud. I wish all our players safe travels back to Sokoto ahead of resumption.”
Following his remarks, the management formally announced the list of retained players for the 2025/2026 Nigeria National League season. The club reiterated that all retained players must resume on or before Monday, 25th August 2025, as full training sessions will commence immediately.
The management also reassured fans of its determination to build a competitive and disciplined team capable of achieving success in the coming season.
