Head coach of Nigeria’s U17 women’s national team, Bankole Olowookere has expressed optimism of his team’s chances of qualifying for this year’s U17 FIFA women’s world cup in Morocco at the expense of their opponent, Algeria.

Algeria will play host to Nigeria this Friday in the reverse fixture of the U17 women’s world cup qualifiers with a 4-0 goal deficit.

Speaking if his team will be mentally ready to absorb intriguing or tactical antics they might face, knowing it is part of what the North Africans usually employ to overturn an unfavorable result, Olowookere said “it’s 90min to go to the world cup, and I don’t think we will be daft enough to let down Nigerian’s and let the chance to qualify slip or elude us”

“We have the backing of the federation and we have been motivated enough to deliver on our own path” he assured.

Nigeria’s Flamingos are on the verge of securing their 8th appearance at the former (Biennial), now Annual tournament, following an impressive 4-0 win in the first leg of the third and final rounds of the qualifiers over Algeria on Saturday at the Remo Stars stadium, Ikenne, Ogun state.

Coach Bankole Olowookere and his team will face Algeria in the reverse fixture on Friday, April 25th, 2025, at the Mustapha Tchacher Stadium, Blida.

The aggregate winner over the two legged encounter will qualify for this year’s FIFA U17 women’s world cup slated for Morocco, in October.
