Akwanga All Stars FC re-elects Eche Amos as Chairman

In a resounding affirmation of faith in continuity and vision, the Akwanga All Stars Football Club, on Saturday, 10th January, 2026, officially inducted its newly elected officials into office, with a task to steer the Club towards unprecedented success over the next two years.

The high-profile inauguration ceremony, attended by luminaries, and loyal club members, marked a significant milestone in the club’s storied history, particularly with the unanimous re-election and swearing-in of the incumbent Chairman, Mr. Eche Amos, for a second and final term.

With emphatic gestures and a resonant voice, the Club’s Chairman, Mr. Eche Amos, having secured an overwhelming mandate from stakeholders, pledged a tenure of unrelenting passion, strategic prowess, and inclusive growth.

“My re-election is a vote of confidence in our collective vision for the All Stars fraternity and sports in general, both in Akwanga and Nasarawa State as a whole.

“We are poised to take the Akwanga All Stars to an enviable height, unifying our forces for a triumphant chapter”, Eche, who was accompanied by his wife, Hajiya Rakiya, stated.

During his goodwill message, the Nasarawa State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Hon. Kwanta Yakubu, represented by the Permanent Secretary, Dr. Ibrahim Adamu Alhassan, congratulated the new executives, stating that the Nasarawa State Government through the Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, would continue to support the Eche Amos-led Akwanga All Stars and its activities to succeed, stressing that he believed in the capacity and capability of the Chairman who is also a staff of the Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, to exceed previous achievements by creating a flurry of transformative initiatives, cementing partnerships and ensuring a trophy-laden horizon.

He promised to formally register himself in the coming days to become a legal member of the Akwanga All Stars family to enable him participate in the club’s rich activities.

The Paramount Ruler of Toni Chiefdom, in Kokona Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, who is also a bona fide member of the Akwanga All Stars, His Royal Highness, Lawrence Ayih 11, said he was impressed with the leadership style of the re-elected Chairman of the Akwanga All Stars, disclosing that his second tenure would, no doubts, further improve the achievements and expose the team and its members to more opportunities.

The Royal Father pledged to continue to work in synergy with the leadership of the Akwanga All Stars to create empowerment opportunities, and entrench peace and development across the State.

Director of Information, Nasarawa State Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, Danmusa Mohammed, also a registered member of the Akwanga All Stars, congratulated the newly elected leadership, and assured of his unadulterated support towards the success of the team and its members.

Danmusa described the re-elected Chairman as a long-time friend who has continued to leave his positive imprint wherever he goes, urging members of the Club to rally round the new leadership to achieve the set-out mandates, revealing that the Club is geared for bigger things under the new dispensation.

Also inaugurated into the Akwanga All Stars’ leadership on Saturday by Barrister Wilson Yohanna, were Adamu Aliyu(Deputy Chairman),
Nkene John Dio(Secretary), Samson Auga(Treasurer), Yakubu John(Financial Secretary), Amaka Rose Eze(Welfare Officer), and Habu Bulus Ishaku(Public Relations Officer).

The ceremonial programme was enlivened by a scintillating novelty football match between the Akwanga All Stars versus a crack team of Sports Writers Association of Nigeria, SWAN, and Veterans in Nasarawa State, ending 3-1 in favour of the Akwanga All Stars’ team, at the Rishama College Football Field, with Bala Yohanna scoring a brace and Kelvin John for the All Stars’ team, while Mustapha Muluku netted the consolation goal for the visitors, a development described by stakeholders who graced the event as a fitting prelude to a tenure promising goals, glory and galvanized teamwork.

The colourful inauguration ceremony also had in attendance Hon. Yusuf Aliyu Chumbaya (Member representing Akwanga South at the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, represented); Comrade Akolo David Alaku(Special Assistant to Governor Abdullahi Sule); Hajiya Hussaina Suleiman Nagogo(Chairperson, Nasarawa Amazons FC); Comrade Smah George(Chairman, SWAN, Nasarawa State); Comrade Abubakar Abuyeye (Chairman Correspondents’ Chapel, Nasarawa State Chapter); Hon. Haladu Akwashiki (Former Vice Chairman, Nasarawa State Football Association); Renowned Kannywood Filmmaker and International Video Journalist, Ibrahim Ibrahim(AIT); Mangut Mbwas(Technical Adviser, Nasarawa United FC); Sadiq Hassan Okoye(Chairman, Nasarawa State Veterans’ Football Association); Rengon Jafaru Yahaya(Chairman, Nasarawa United Feeder Team); Comrade Solomon John Damina(Chairman, NYCN, Nasarawa State); Chukwuma Udofia (International Player Manager); Kassim Usman Abdullahi (Chairman, Akwanga Football Council); Abubakar Labaran(Chairman, Akwanga Football Referees’ Society); Members of Afo ethnic nationality, and President of Fadama Community, Comrade Paul Sunday.

Recall that the Akwanga All Stars FC held its elective congress presided by the Reverend Jerry Inji-led Electoral Committee on 13th December, 2025, at the Rishama College Football Field, home ground of the team, to usher in a new set of Executives for the next two years.

The Tosin Aiyegbusi-led Interim Management Committee had held briefly before formally handing over to the new leadership of the club during the weekend.
