The Seriki of Dobi Community, Alhaji Ismaila Nda, has commended the Initiative for Better and Brighter Nigeria (IBBN) for bringing a unifying civic engagement programme to the community, describing the initiative as timely and beneficial.

Nda made the remarks while speaking at a grassroots football match organised by IBBN in Dobi Community, Gwagwalada Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory on Thursday.

Expressing appreciation to the organisers, the community leader said he was pleased with the atmosphere of peace and inclusiveness that characterised the event.

“I want to say thank you to all of you. I am very happy with this event,” he said.

According to him, the programme demonstrated harmony among residents, regardless of religious affiliation.

“Since this programme started, there has been no difference between Muslims and Christians

. Dobi community is a peaceful land, and our people live together in good condition,” he said.

Nda noted that he does not discriminate between Muslim or Christian gatherings and attends events from both faiths whenever invited.

“Any time Muslims or Christians invite me, I go. That is why I came here today,” he said.

He added that the event brought joy to the community, especially as the Christmas season approaches.

“Christmas is coming closer, and before the end of this year, the Christians have brought happiness to the community today,” he stated.

Commenting on the football match, the Seriki said his neutral stance helped maintain peace during the competition.

“The two teams playing, I am not supporting any of them. That is why there is peace in Dobi community,” he said.

While commending IBBN’s efforts, Nda also used the opportunity to call on authorities to consider the development needs of the community, particularly the creation of a local council.

“What I want for the development of this community is for the government to consider creating a local council here in Dobi,” he said.

The event formed part of IBBN’s broader grassroots engagement strategy aimed at promoting unity, peaceful coexistence, and civic awareness across communities in the Federal Capital Territory.

The novelty match saw Dobi United defeated Paiko United 3–2 in the football match.
