The Service Compact with All Nigerians (SERVICOM) has urged Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) to sustain the tempo of excellent and citizen-centred service delivery across the country.
The Acting National Coordinator of SERVICOM, Mr Anthony Oshin, made the call at the 2025 End-of-Year Recognition and Awards Ceremony for SERVICOM Nodal and Focal Officers, held in Abuja.
Oshin said the ceremony was organised to celebrate excellence, dedication and commitment to improved public service delivery in MDAs, despite the challenges faced during the year.
According to him, 2025 was particularly challenging due to inadequate funding for programmes and activities, but SERVICOM officers demonstrated resilience, teamwork and professionalism in achieving set goals.
“We are here to reflect on our milestones and celebrate our success stories against all odds. Through collective effort and team spirit, we have scaled new heights in service delivery,” he said.
Oshin commended SERVICOM Nodal and Focal Officers for their pivotal roles in driving service delivery reforms and fostering customer satisfaction across MDAs.
He explained that the awards were part of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation’s Recognition and Reward Scheme aimed at encouraging healthy competition, accountability and best practices in service delivery.
According to him, the objectives of the awards include entrenching a culture of service excellence, promoting the functionality of SERVICOM Units (MSUs), enhancing customer satisfaction and holding government accountable to citizens.
Oshin noted that award recipients were selected through a transparent assessment process using SERVICOM principles and work plans, with nominations subjected to internal review and defence by SERVICOM officers.
He said the SERVICOM awards initiative, which began in 2007, was designed to institutionalise recognition and reward systems in MDAs and reinforce the practice of celebrating outstanding service providers.
The coordinator expressed gratitude to the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Sen. George Akume; the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Mrs Didi Esther Walson-Jack; ministers, permanent secretaries and heads of agencies for their continued support.
He also acknowledged the contributions of development partners, including the World Bank, Accountability Lab and the Aig-Imoukhuede Foundation, for supporting service delivery reforms in Nigeria.
Oshin further commended media organisations for their role in promoting accountability by highlighting SERVICOM’s achievements and challenges.
“As we recognise excellence today, let us remember that these awards represent not just individual achievements but collective efforts toward improving public service delivery,” he said.
He urged SERVICOM officers to remain committed to professionalism, teamwork and innovation in the coming year.
At the event, the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) emerged as the overall best-performing agency, while the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) received an award for outstanding performance in Category B.
Other award recipients included the Ministry of Youth Development, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and several other MDAs.
