Akinmoorin community in Afijio Local Government Area has commended its vibrant youth body for organizing a comprehensive free health-care outreach that served more than 100 residents across Akinmoorin and neighbouring communities.
Speaking at the event, Mrs. Tunrayo Owolabi expressed gratitude to God and prayed that the organisers would continue to receive divine support for their efforts.
Another beneficiary, Funmilayo Samuel, said her “energy changed” after receiving treatment, describing the programme as authentic and impactful.
Representing the Amoorin of Akinmoorin, Otun of Amoorin Kingdom, Chief Agboyin Taiwo, reaffirmed that the initiative was entirely free and targeted at improving the wellbeing of Akinmoorin and its environs.
He noted that the chiefs were present on behalf of Oba Solomon Iyiola Olayemi to support and encourage the youths and the anonymous who partnered with the akinmoorin youth for this initiative. He applauded their commitment and prayed for more progress.
Also speaking, Gabriel Babatunde Atenibiaje, the Onsa of Akinmoorin and one of the organisers, said the outreach was a deliberate effort by the youths to demonstrate their value to the community.
He noted that everyone was attended to regardless of the illness, except for cases requiring surgical operations. He emphasised that the presence of the chiefs underscored the importance of the initiative.
The Director of Primary Health Care, Akinmoorin, Iyaafin Ojeleke Folashade, under the Afijio Health Authority, described the programme as another milestone in the ongoing partnership between the youth wing and the health centre.
She recalled that last year, the youths renovated the facility, and this year they extended water from the borehole into the centre.
Folashade expressed gratitude to the chiefs, the Amoorin, and residents for their cooperation. She disclosed that about 100 people benefited from free medical services, medications, and essential health interventions.
According to her, the elderly accounted for about 75 percent of beneficiaries, while young children were about 3 percent and the rest for youth. Pregnant women also received maternal support items, and students were not left out.
She praised the youths for consistently yielding to professional guidance and called for even greater contributions in the future.
She was accompanied by Iyaafin Oladejo Adedoyin, Omidan Aderoju Idowu, Omidan Badmus Kamilat, Iyaafin Ayansola Yetunde, Iyaadin Adediwura, Arakunrin Adetayo Olakunle, Gbadamosi Rasheed from Jobele, and others representing Dr. Odedeji, who was attending a meeting at the Afijio Secretariat.
Residents and community leaders concluded with prayers for the continued progress of Akinmoorin and the sustainability of youth-driven development initiatives.
