Lafia based FC Basira has maintain their impressive form, setting a tune for the NNL 2025/26 new season with a 3- 1 victory against Mighty Jets FC of Jos.
The matchday- one fixture which was also the season opener for the nation’s second tier league saw FC Basira hosting Mighty Jets International at the Lafia City Stadium on Saturday evening as highly important personalities witness the exciting encounter including the Executive Governor of Nasarawa State Engr. Abdullahi A. Sule.
FC Basira’s midfielder maestro Abubakar Yusuf netted a brace in the 5th and 39th minutes to give the Baffa Boys a healthy lead at the break.
The reverse half saw highly prolific winger Peter Eneji scoring a sensational goal from long range just immediately after returning from the break.
Emmanuel Iliya slotted the ball into his own net to gift Mighty Jets International in the 62nd minutes but the score line remained the same until the final whistle was blown.
The host however had numerous scoring chances but the trio of Sunday Aluku, Ochoche Ngbede and Usman Usman were unable to find the back of the net.
FC Basira will now travel to Ilorin, Kwara state where they would face ABS FC on the matchday two on November 22nd, 2025 in Ilorin Township Stadium.
