…,Delta Sports Commission Chairman Rewards Team With #500,000

Warri Wolves FC put up another resilience on Saturday as they battled Bendel Insurance of Benin to a 1-1 draw in their NPFL26 Matchweek 11 encounter at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City.

The Seasiders showed determination and tactical discipline against the formidable Benin Arsenal, earning a vital away point that further cements their growing reputation as one of the league’s most consistent consistent sides this season season.

Impressed by the team’s performance, the Chairman of the Delta State Sports Commission, who also doubles as the state’s Sports Commissioner, Honorable Onoriode Joshua Oborevwori, expressed delight over the result and announced a #500,000 cash reward to the team for their gallant display and fighting spirit.

Team captain Urukpe Innocent described the gesture as a ‘massive morale booster’ commending the Sports Commission Chairman for his continued support.

“This reward means a lot to us. It motivates the entire team to keep working harder and to push for even greater heights and results in the matches ahead,” the Skipper said.

Warri Wolves’ interim head coach, Johnny Austin, also lauded the leadership of Honourable Onoriode Oborevwori, noting that the team’s steady progress is a direct reflection of the Commission’s unwavering support and investment in the players’ welfare.

“Our result yesterday mirrors the commitment and encouragement we have been receiving from the Sports Commission Chairman. In a similar manner, the Chairman also gifted the team #1000,000 a reflection of his joy last week when we defeated Bayelsa United 2-0 in Ozoro. We will continue to give our best to reciprocate his passion and trust in this team,” Austin stated.

With the draw, Warri Wolves continue their impressive form on the road as they look forward to their next NPFL26 fixture with renewed confidence and determination.

Warri Wolves has so far recorded a massive 5 wins, 3 draws both home and away. And currently sit second on the log with 18 points after Nasarawa United who are log toppers with 19 points.
