Barely days after his re-election as President of the Nigeria Rugby Football Federation (NRFF), Dr. Ademola Are and his new board have wasted no time in action, announcing an international friendly match between Nigeria and Ghana.

The encounter, tagged “The Heritage Cup,” will take place at the University of Ghana Rugby Stadium, Accra, and promises to reignite the long-standing rivalry between the Stallions of Nigeria and the Ghana Eagles.

“ It is expected to be a thrilling, no-holds-barred contest with pride and bragging rights at stake.

The friendly will serve as the board’s first official engagement following their election last Saturday at the Indoor Sports Hall of the MKO Abiola Stadium, Abuja.

Speaking on the upcoming clash, Dr. Are said the game forms part of the federation’s broader strategy to keep players active and maintain competitive momentum.

“This match is part of our plans to keep the players engaged while we finalize modalities for the league’s kickoff. Our focus is on inclusivity — ensuring that every geopolitical zone is represented and actively involved,” he explained.
