Warri Wolves have bounced back in style, securing a morale-boosting 2-1 away victory over reigning champions Enyimba FC in their NPFL26 Matchweek 9 encounter at the Enyimba International Stadium in Aba.

The Seasiders, who had endured a recent blip in form, showed immense character and determination as they stunned the People’s Elephant in front of their home supporters. The thrilling encounter saw Warri Wolves take control early on capitalizing on quick transitions and tactical discipline to outplay the host team.

Head Coach Johnny Austin was full of praise for his players’ spirited performance and fighting mentality, describing the win as a “statement of intent” from a team hungry to remain competitive in the top-flight

In an emotional postmatch reaction, Austin dedicated the historic victory to the sports-loving Governor of Delta State, Rt. Sheriff Oborevwori and the Delta State Sports Commission Chairman and Commissioner for Sports, whose unwavering support and recent logistics backing have greatly inspired the team.

“This victory is for His Excellency Governor Oborevwori and the Honorable Sports Commissioner. Their continuous support has been a major motivation for the boys, and today, we showed that their investment is not in vain, “Austin said.

The coach further assured that the team will build on the momentum gained from the Aba triumph as they continue their NPFL26 campaign.

The famous win in Aba sends a strong message to the rest of the league that Warri Wolves are back in form and ready to challenge any opposition home or away.
