Barau FC head coach, Ladan Bosso, has commended his players for their determination and discipline after a thrilling 2-1 comeback victory over Kano Pillars in an NPFL Matchday 9 fixture in Kano. Despite trailing early in the game, Barau FC fought back to equalize and eventually secured the winning goal, much to the delight of the coach.

Speaking after the match, Bosso said,

“We had match plans, and for the first time, I want to give kudos to my players for coming from a goal down, leveling up, and eventually scoring the winning goal. It was a match we prepared very well for. Despite the controversy and crisis, I remained resolute with my players, and I believe when we are focused, we can get things right.”

Addressing rumors of his resignation due to family issues, Bosso firmly dismissed the speculation.

“You know Bosso is somebody that is never perturbed, no matter what. I have never, in any way, resigned. There’s no way I will resign from a team that is at the bottom of the league table—it would mean I came to push the team down and run away. I can only resign when the team is sitting comfortably on the league table. That has always been my philosophy,” he stated.

Bosso also highlighted the unwavering discipline and commitment of his players, adding,

“We have seen it all, and we are working on how to get things right. My players are disciplined and willing to give their best.”

The coach revealed how the team was further motivated by a message from the club owner, Senator Barau, who promised the players a financial reward for their performance.

“The Senator himself sent a motivating message to the players. None of them will go home with less than 150,000 Naira for this result and their effort. That motivation alone kept the players on their toes,” Bosso explained.

Playing without fans due to restrictions, Bosso admitted the absence of supporters was felt.

“Yes, we missed our supporters, and we hope in our next match we will justify this kind of performance in their presence,” he said.

Looking ahead to their next game against Abia Warriors, Bosso remained confident but cautious.

“Abia is my second home; I coached Abia Warriors for two seasons and am very familiar with the environment. However, I won’t reveal how we’ll approach the match because I wouldn’t want to give away our secrets. Let’s see how it pans out,” he concluded.

Barau FC’s victory lifts spirits within the club as they continue their fight to climb the NPFL standings.
