DAY TWO: Police Spank DSS, Road Safety PIP NAYEA, Civil Defence escape from Correctional service custody

The Nigerian Police Force, NPF, on Tuesday, disappeared from the eagle eye of the Department of State Services, DSS, in the ongoing 4th edition of the Governor Abdullahi Sule Inter-Security Agencies’ Unity Cup Football Tournament holding at the Lafia City Stadium.

After missing an early penalty, the DSS were made to pay for the missed opportunity as Otaki Mamuda opened the goal account for the Police Force team in the 17th minute.

The NPF danger man made it 2-0 at the stroke of Half-time, before Allu Samuel halved the scoreline for the DSS in the 74th minute.

Umara Musa, however, dashed the hopes of the Secret Service team, netting a third and final goal for the Police team, with full-time score at 3-1, advancing the Police Team to the summit of the Group D table, with three points.

The NPF will take on the Federal Fire Service, FFS, team on Wednesday evening, while the DSS side will be on standby for their next and final Group game against the FFS on Thursday, by 4pm.

In other results decided on Tuesday, the Nasarawa State Youth Empowerment Agency, NAYEA, could not convert their chances as they were pipped 1-0 by the tournament’s defending champions, the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC.

Eshimutu Gomina’s 28th minute brilliant strike inside the box was all the personnel of road traffic and worthiness needed to register their first win of the campaign in Group A, but still behind the NAYEA team who have superior goal advantage after they had demolished debutants, Vigilante Group of Nigeria, 4-0 in the Group’s first game on Monday.

The FRSC will tackle Vigilante Group of Nigeria in the Group’s last game on Wednesday by 2pm to determine which teams advance to the knockout stage.

In the game involving the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, versus the Nigerian Correctional Service, NCS, in Group B, the former spanked the latter 1-3, on Tuesday evening.

Captain, Ovey Victor, scored a brace in the 16th and 65th minutes, with Bello Alhassan scoring the third for the Civil Defence warriors who freed themselves from the detention of the Correctional Service.

Silas Omame scored the Correctional Service’s consolation goal in the 51st minute.

The NSCDC are now 2nd position behind the Nigerian Air Force who earlier thrashed the m by 4-1.

In Wednesday’s fixtures, the Nigerian Immigration Service will tackle the National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, by 10am.

On Thursday, the Nigerian Air Force who won their first game by 4-2 against the NSCDC will trade tackles with the Nigerian Correctional Service in Group B by 10am; the Nigerian Army who walloped the Immigration Service team will face the NDLEA by 2pm before the DSS will play their last game same day by 4pm against the Federal Fire Service.

Only two teams will qualify to the Quarter-finals from each Group.
