The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) D-License Coaching Course has kicked off  today in Abuja, with 40 coaches participating in the six-day program.

According to NFF Technical Director, Coach Augustine Eguavoen, the D-License is a prerequisite for the C-License course and is designed for beginners, requiring a minimum of 60 hours of training.

Eguavoen emphasized the importance of staged development in football, stating, “Just as it is in life, everything in football is in stages.

“ We have a lot of talented young ones out there, and it’s not the way you coach adults that you coach the young ones. Coaching the young ones requires special training.”

The course is part of the NFF’s efforts to develop coaching standards across the country. After the national program, the NFF plans to take the course to the zones and states.

Coach Eguavoen noted, “This course is not going to be a one-off. We will have to take it to the Zones, and subsequently to the States.

After this national programme, We have a total of 40 coaches undergoing this programme, and I can assure you they have a lot to learn.”

The NFF has been actively organizing coaching courses, including a record-setting CAF C-License programme exclusively for women coaches, which took place from July to September last year (three modules )with 30 participants.

The NFF organized a CAF B-License Course which saw a total of 30 participants, in April this year.

There has also been a Coach Educators’ Course, which involved 25 participants, in July this year.

These initiatives demonstrate the NFF’s commitment to developing coaching expertise and promoting football development in Nigeria.
