The newly re-elected president of Cycling Federation of Nigeria (CFN) Chief Giandomenico Massari has called on the government and corporate organizations to do more for the development of the sport in Nigeria.
Massari made the call during the 2025 CFN Elective Congress that took place at the Gymnasium Hall of Package B of the Moshood Abiola Stadium in Abuja .
The former President and Chairman of the Governing Council of Certified Institute of Sports Management Nigeria, was re-elected as President of CFN for a third consecutive term, reaffirming his status as a pivotal figure in the development of Cycling in Nigeria and across Africa.
Under the watchful eyes of observers from the Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC), National Sports Commission and other key stakeholders, all the 17 delegates cast their votes
Chief Giandomenico Massari, who contested the election unopposed, won the election after securing all 17 votes cast, while former FIFA badged referee Dr. Ago Abdullahi emerged as the new 1st Vice President, polling 17 votes.
In his acceptance speech, Chief Giandomenico Massari, who expressed deep appreciation to the delegates for their continued trust and support urged government and corporate organizations to do more for sports in the country.
Also speaking newly elected 2nd vice president Dr. Amidu James Mohammed assured that he would work alongside other board members to take cycling to the next level in Nigeria.
Representative of the Nigeria Olympic Committee NOC, Tunde Popoola who commended the federation for conducting a credible and constitutionally backed election, said the NOC is pushing for more women inclusion in the sports administration in Nigeria.
Dr. Amidu James Mohammed won the election of 2nd vice president after polling 12 votes while Miss Sally Ogana came second with 3 votes and Amike Henry was third with 2 votes.
The 17-man cycling board member that will pilot the affairs of the Cycling Federation of Nigeria for the next four years are; Chief Giandomenico Massari, Mohammed Bashir, Dr. Emmanuel Igbinosa, Mrs. Angela Okoro,
Others are Femi Thomas, Patrick Omorodion, Tawakalit Oyetayo, DCI Farouk Umar Abdullahi, Sally Ogana, Rahab Kaze, Dr. Amidu Mohammed, Dr. Ago Abdullahi, Sulaiman Buduru, Mbasi Obinna, Ajibike Julius Babatunde and Amike Henry.
