The Sapphire Nigeria Women Football Supporters Club has announced plans for its annual celebration of the International Day of the Girl Child, with this year’s edition marking the fifth anniversary of the initiative.
The 2025 celebration will hold on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at the Albati Barracks Stadium, Surulere, Lagos, starting from 7:00 a.m.
Themed “The Girls I Am, The Change I Lead: Girls on the Frontline of Crisis”, the event will spotlight the critical role of the girl child in addressing climate change and environmental challenges.
As part of its culture of combining advocacy with sports, the programme will feature a football competition designed to engage and empower participants, alongside other exciting line-ups to commemorate the milestone.
A press conference will be held ahead of the event to provide further details and mobilize support from stakeholders, partners, and the general public.
Speaking ahead of the celebration, the President of the Supporters Club, Jadesola Adelabu reaffirmed her commitment to promoting the rights, development, and leadership of the girl child through football and advocacy on Saturday, October 11, 2025 at Albati Barracks Stadium, Surulere, Lagos, by 7:00 a.m.
