Bayelsa Queens’ head coach, Whyte Ogbonda, commended his players for maintaining focus and securing a 3-0 victory over ASKO FC of Togo in the WAFU ZONE B CAF Women’s Champions League qualifiers.
The team dominated the match, with Oumou Ban’s own goal in the 47th minute, followed by Alaba Olabiyi’s strike in the 55th minute, and Shakirat Moshood’s goal in the 80th minute.
In the post-match interview, Coach Busari Hakeem, who stood in for Coach Whyte Ogbonda, praised his team’s determination and quick response in the second half.
“We were eager to get the three points, and we knew ASKO wouldn’t make it easy for us. We adjusted our game plan in the second half, and it paid off. I’m happy with the girls’ response, and we’ll continue to take it one game at a time.”
Bayelsa Queens’ midfielder Vera Samuel was named Player of the Match, and the team has already qualified for the semi-finals with 6 points from two matches.
Their next opponent is Sam Nelly FC of Benin Republic on Saturday.(August 30th,2025)
