TEAM NASARAWA ARRIVES KWARA FOR NATIONAL YOUTH GAMES ZONAL ELIMINATIONS

A total of 154-member contingent, comprising athletes, coaches, sports secretaries, medical, media, and security personnel, as well as accompanying officials, who left Lafia, the Nasarawa State Capital, on Saturday, safely arrived Ilorin, Kwara State, to participate in the North Central Zonal Eliminations for the 9th National Youth Games.

Team Nasarawa will participate in five team sport events, including Hockey, Basketball, Football, Handball and Volleyball, sports they have comparative advantage in, against their North Central counterparts from Kwara, Benue, Kogi, Plateau, Niger, and FCT, Abuja, beginning from 16th to 18th August, 2025, at the Kwara State Stadium, Ilorin, with departure date set for 19th of same month.

Winners in each sport will serve as qualification to represent the Zone at the main National Youth Games billed to hold from 26th August to 6th September, 2025, in Asaba, the Delta State Capital.

The 36 States of the Federation and FCT, Abuja, will feature at the main event in the Niger Delta-located State.

Director of Sports Organizing, Nasarawa State Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, Mallam Ubah Musa, led the Team Nasarawa delegation to the Zonal Eliminations, with high hopes of making the State proud, as they carry with them the hopes and expectations of their fans, particularly Governor Abdullahi Sule, families, and the entire Nasarawa State.

Team Nasarawa has participated in each edition of the National Youth Games since inception in 2013 in Abuja.
