Team Nigeria continues its impressive showing at the ongoing African School Games in Annaba, Algeria, with a growing medal haul of 19 medals, comprising 4 gold, 7 silver, and 8 bronze, as the competition enters its final week of action.
Team Nigerian athletics team will close out the four-day event in style, with representation in seven finals scheduled for Monday, August 4, 2025.
Among the highlights will be the dynamic sprint duo of Rosemary Nwankwo and Miracle Ezechukwu, who already clinched gold and silver respectively in the 100m final. The pair will now battle for supremacy in the 200m Girls Final, having recorded the two fastest times in the semifinals—24.02s (Ezechukwu) and 24.26s (Nwankwo).
In the 200m Boys Final, Faye Perfect will fly Nigeria’s flag after a blistering 21.75s performance in the semifinal round. Also joining the list of finalists is Teibowei Samson, who will contest the 800m Boys Final.
Field events will also see Nigerian contenders in action:
• Ukandu Ugonna will compete in the Girls Discus Final
• Joseph Chimgozirim will represent Nigeria in the Javelin Boys Final
• Mohammed Adeniyi will jump for glory in the Boys High Jump Final
All track events are scheduled for 5:00 PM local time, while javelin and discus events will take place earlier in the day at 9:00 AM local time, both hosted at Chabou Stadium, Annaba.
