The newly sworn-in President, Ms. Irene Okoeguale, Rotary Club of Garki Abuja on Friday in Abuja has highlighted the club’s commitment to establishing a scholarship education fund to support students from low-income households.
Under the theme “United for Good,” the club aims to harness the collective strength and talents of its members to drive impactful projects that benefit the community and beyond.
According to her, the initiatives include sponsoring youths to participate in educational courses at the Industrial Training Fund (ITF) and providing scholarships to five secondary school students throughout their tenure.
“ The club will also work with Aleita Youth to organize a community cleanup and educate them on the importance of cleanliness, good water, and sanitation.
“ This initiative aims to promote environmental sustainability and raise awareness about the critical role individuals play in maintaining a healthy environment,” she said.
In addition to these initiatives, the club is committed to supporting maternal and child health initiatives, aiming to provide timely and effective emergency response .
“ To also ensure that mothers and children receive the care they need, even in critical hours,” she said.
Ms. Okoeguale clarified that the club’s community service initiatives extend beyond Aleita in FCT satellite town, with projects actively underway in various locations, including a school in Nassarawa and other areas.
“ The club’s community core scholarship program is open to students from low-income households across the FCT, not just those from Aleita.
“As the club approaches the end of the year, Ms. Okoeguale envisions Garki Club being recognized as a beacon of innovation and community impact.
“ The club’s goal is to leave a lasting legacy that showcases its commitment to serving the community, particularly in maternal and child health,” she said.
She emphasized the importance of unity, determination, and a shared vision in achieving the club’s goals.
“ Throughout her term, she aims to inject fresh ideas, enthusiasm, and positivity into the club’s activities, fostering a culture of service, compassion, and community engagement,” she said.
