Former World Boxing Champion Bashiru Ali finally  met his waterloo in court on Thursday against Oyo state born, Former Sports Minister, Sunday Akin Dare, who didn’t even need to put on his boxing gloves to achieve a first round technical knockout at the federal high court Abuja.

Bash Ali in his desperate bid to stage a World Title fight he once tagged the Guinness Book of Records fight, had embarked on a campaign of calumny against previous Sports ministers, starting with Kwara state born Bolaji Abdullahi whom he tormented with lies and blackmail in his desperation to force government to support a bout that was never endorsed by the World Boxing council.

After Bolaji, Bash Ali didn’t relent. The serial blackmailer made life difficult for the likes of Tamuno Danagogo and Solomon Dalung but against Sunday Dare, it was a different ball game, as the agba Akin of Ogbomosho fought him punch for punch and didn’t give him any breathing space even beyond his tenure as Sports minister.

In October 2021, Justice O.C Agbaza of the federal high court Abuja, issued a restraining order barring Bash Ali from making or publishing defamatory remarks about the then minister of youth and sports, Sunday Dare. This judicial intervention came after a series defamatory outbursts by Ali who has refused to stop bullying sports ministers with ficticious and frivolous allegations.

On Thursday July 3rd in Abuja, Bash Ali finally kissed the canvas as a combination of uppercut and left handed jabs from Sunday Dare left him in a pool of his own blood.

The matter between Sunday Dare and Bash Ali came up for ruling today at the federal high court Abuja  after a preliminary objection was filed in by Bode Olanipekun SAN, counsel to Sunday Dare.

The court considered the submissions of the various counsel and heavily criticized Bash Ali the claimant, that he failed woefully in proving his allegation of “Acting in bad faith” by the former sports minister. The court also accused Bash Ali of making frivolous claims and as such the matter was struck out for lack of merit.
