The council’s inauguration ceremony marks a significant milestone in the pursuit of sustainable development in Nigeria as Nigeria continues to pull in the weight to achieve SDG goals by the year 2030.
Prof.Gobna Wafure, Director of the Center for Congress for Sustainable Development of Nigeria (CSDN) emphasized the importance of sustainable development, a program well-known globally, particularly by the United Nations during the inauguration of Executive Committee Members of CSDN on Saturday in Abuja.
According to him, the institution’s programs are designed to align with specific SDGs, such as Goal 11 for sustainable development, Goal 13 for climate action, and other relevant goals.
“ The programs aim to equip students with knowledge and skills to contribute to achieving the SDGs, focusing on areas like sustainable energy, agriculture, and environmental conservation.
“ The congress plays a crucial role in promoting sustainable development and providing a platform for students to engage with the program and contribute to society.
Nigeria’s commitment to achieving the SDGs by 2030 underscores the importance of initiatives like this council, which can help drive progress toward these global targets,” he said.
The institution plans to introduce additional courses that support sustainable development goals, further emphasizing its commitment to this critical area.
“ By working together, students, faculty, and the broader community can make meaningful contributions to achieving the SDGs.
“ Also creating a more sustainable future for Nigeria and beyond,” he said.
