President, Ibrahim Gusau,the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), has emphasized the federation’s commitment to reviving grassroots football and leagues, describing them as the future of Nigerian football.
Speaking at the monthly awards ceremony of the Nigeria National League,( NNL) held in Abuja , Gusau highlighted the progress made so far in achieving this goal.
He noted that reviving grassroots football and leagues was a key promise during his campaign, and the federation has made significant strides in this direction.
He cited the alignment of the domestic league calendar with the global calendar, a feat previously considered impossible, as a major achievement.
The NFF president also highlighted the successful conclusion of the Nigeria Women’s Football League’s(NWFL) super six stage, a milestone not achieved in several years.
The federation is set to conclude the super 8 stage of the National League, further demonstrating progress in the country’s football landscape.
“We want to revive grassroots football, leagues for a brighter future.
“ Emphasizing the importance of these initiatives for the growth and development of Nigerian football,” he said.

Also present at the occasion were NFF 2nd Vice President/Chairman NPFL, Hon. Gbenga Elegbeleye; Senior Special Assistant to President on Grassroots Sports Development, Prince Adeyinka Adeboye; NNL Chairman, Chief George Aluo; NNL CEO, Mr Emmanuel Attah; former NFF General Secretary, Ambassador Fanny Amun (MON).
Others are Chairman FCT FA, Hon. Abba Mouktar Mohammed; representative of the NSC Chairman, Mallam Salihu Abubakar; representative of the NSC DG, Edidowei Oweife; NFF’s Director of Media and Communications, Dr Ademola Olajire; President of NRA, Hon. Sani Zubairu; Chairman of NFF Referees Committee, Madam Faith Irabor and; NNL COO, Danlami Alanana.
