Sokoto United Football Club has made history by becoming the first team to receive double honors as the most behaved team team in the Nigeria National League (NNL) for April and May.
The combined 2025 NNL/PROSTAR /SPORTLIGHT HUB/Monthly Awards ( April/May Edition) took place on Wednesday in Abuja.
Sokoto United FC’s remarkable achievement reflects the club’s commitment to discipline, professionalism, and sportsmanship throughout the current league season.
The team’s head coach,Peter Ajeni, expressed gratitude to the organizers and emphasized the club’s dedication to upholding the values of fair play, unity, and professionalism.
“This double honor is not just a recognition of how we play the game, but of who we are as a football institution.
“ We are proud to represent Sokoto State with dignity and we dedicate these awards to our fans, management, players, and all stakeholders who make this journey possible,” he said.
He said that the team will remain focused on its campaign in the current NNL season.
“Aiming to secure promotion and continue setting the pace in discipline and integrity across Nigerian football ,” he said.

The PROSTAR/NNL Monthly Awards aimed at recognizing outstanding performances and contributions in the Nigeria National League, Nigeria’s second-tier football division.
The awards have become a rallying point for fostering excellence, encouraging grassroots development, and building stronger ties between government bodies and football stakeholders.
The event was attended by prominent figures in Nigerian football, including NFF President Alhaji Ibrahim Gusau, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Grassroots Football Development Prince Adeyinka Adeboye, NNL Board Chairman Chief George Aluo, and CEO Emmanuel Attah.
The prestigious event, held to celebrate outstanding performances in Nigeria’s second-tier football league,recognize key individuals and teams who have excelled in various categories over the two-month period.
