Team Plateau Female Basketball Club emerged victorious on Tuesday, defeating Team Nasarawa State’s team in the fourth-round match of the female basketball competition at the second edition of Chief of Defence Staff Democracy Day Basketball Championship in Abuja.
Plateau Girls proved their mettle by edging past Nasarawa with a 31-25 victory the thrilling match took place at the Package B Indoor Sports Complex of the Moshood Abiola Stadium, showcasing passion and entertainment in the female basketball competition.
Team Nasarawa faced off against Team Plateau with the first quater leading Team Plateau 13- 6 as Team Plateau equalized in the second quarter 15-13.
Team Nasarawa bounced back to take the lead in the third set 23- 15. Before ended neck-and-neck and Team Plateau in the fourth set beat Team Nasarawa 25-31.
In another match, TNT Female Basketball Club emerged victorious defeating Niger State’s team.
The Abuja-based private club TNT Basketball Club dominated their Team Niger State counterparts with a resounding 40-10 win at the end of the fourth quarter.

dominating the second quarter 26- 10 , third quarter 40-10 and fourth quarter ended ,40- 10.
In other matches,Additionally, Team FCT took on Team Kaduna, the only unbeaten team so far in the championship.
In the first quarter Team Kaduna lost 5-10 to Team FCT ,advantage Kaduna team but really tight game.
In the second quarter Kaduna team maintain her lead showing why they still remain unbeaten, 17-10 .
In the third quarter, Team Kaduna showing supremacy 28-17 against Team FCT . Kaduna State girls extended their unbeaten run by defeating FCT 37-27.
Speaking after the match, Coach Francis of Kaduna Female team,
Said the players listened and executed the game plan perfectly, showing their hunger for victory.
“ Their willingness to listen was key. I have been impressed with the logistics since arriving on Saturday.
“ I think having a game like this every month would be fantastic – it’s been smooth and issue-free.
“ I did encourage the CDS to consider hosting events like this more frequently,” he said.
Our team have played four matches and won all with eight points .
Oghenne Ochuko, standout player of the Kaduna team, praised the team’s performance, saying, “We have a great team and coach, and we have remained unbeaten so far.
“ I thank my teammates and coaches for their support – we couldn’t have achieved this without them.
“ I attributed the team’s success to excellent teamwork and effective coaching,” he said.
Ochuko also expressed gratitude for the timely payment of allowances, appreciating the organizers for fulfilling their commitments since the event began on Saturday.
In the male team, Menzes (M-2 )Academy beat Kaduna team 71-63 to advance to final
A total of 16 teams comprising of 10 male and 6 female teams from North Central and FCT, are participating in the championship. started on June 13 and is expected to end on June 18 at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja.
The tournament, themed “Encouraging Grassroots Basketball Talents”, aims to identify and nurture young talents, building their capacity to contribute meaningfully to national development.
