….Conducts Unannounced Visit, Takes Hands-On Approach Facility Inspection.
His Excellency , Philip Shuaibu, the newly appointed Director-General of the National Institute of Sports (NIS), conducted a surprise inspection of the NIS Secretariat in Abuja where the facility is in sorry state.
During the visit on Wednesday in Abuja, Shuaibu evaluated facilities and equipment, emphasizing the need for effective supervision in sports management.
He stated that the unannounced visit was intended to get a genuine view of the state of the facilities and work culture.
He reaffirmed his commitment to implementing the Renewed Hope Agenda in Nigerian sports, as mandated by the President.
Suaibu highlighted the importance of collaboration with the media and stakeholders in revamping the sports sector.
“ The journey to revamping sports in Nigeria would require collaboration with the media and stakeholders.
“For now, I just want to continue inspecting. This is just the facilities.
“ We also need to examine our work culture, assess the passion for the work, and identify those the institute should support. There are many aspects that require our attention.
“ My plans is to document all findings and make official statements after completing this assessments,” he said.
This surprise inspection underscores Shuaibu’s dedication to improving the sports sector and promoting accountability within the NIS.
Shaibu earlier pays a courtesy visit to Shehu Dikko, Chairman of the National Sports Commission (NSC).
The meeting focused on potential collaborations and strategies to drive progress in Nigerian sports.
The meeting marked a significant step towards building a strong partnership between the National Institute of Sports and the National Sports Commission.
