FRSC promises free traffic flow in Rivers as Muslims celebrate Eid-el-Kabir

Port Harcourt, June 5, 2025 –FRSC promises free traffic flow in Rivers as Muslims celebrate Eid-el-Kabir Rivers Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) says it has deployed no fewer than 800 personnel, 16 patrol vans and a heavy duty tow truck for Eid-el-Kabir special patrol.

A statement by the Sector Commander, Mr Inyang Umoh on Friday in Port Harcourt said that the move was to ensure a safe and seamless celebration.

He said that officers assigned for the patrol included regular and special marshals.

According to him, the six days special patrol, which will take place from June 5 to June 11, would be in collaboration with sister agencies.

He also said that the collaboration would further boost traffic flow on the highways as well as within the state.

Umoh warned road users to desist from reckless driving and illicit violation of traffic rules as offenders would be made to face the full weight of the law.

“We will target the following traffic offences; speeding, dangerous driving, improper overtaking, lane indiscipline, road obstructions and use of phones while driving.

“Others offences are overloading, violations of seatbelt and child restraint laws and the absence of a passenger manifest,” he said.

He further said that driving mechanically unfit vehicles and negligence to safety rules on vehicle latching and twist-locking systems would also be focused on.
