Mrs. Bouchra Hajij, President of the African Volleyball Confederation (CAVB), has called for the sports press to value the narrative of African volleyball and its athletes. A vibrant advocacy in favor of a “storytelling” in the service of the continent’s volleyball memory.

She spoke at the tribune of the 87th World Congress of the International Association of Sports Press (AIPS), organized in Rabat, Morocco from 11 to 16 May 2025.

“Dear media representatives, we have a common mission today: to spread the story of our athletes, our competitions, through inspiring stories.” African volleyball deserves to be told,” Ms. Hajij said in front of a panel of journalists from around the world.

Emphasizing the important role of media in building awareness and legitimacy of sporting disciplines, she invited information professionals to join the transformational dynamics undertaken by the CAVB since becoming head of African volleyball governing body in 2017. 2021.

The leader has created a clear, but ambitious picture of the state of African volleyball. It highlighted the progress made in the fields of training, administrative modernization, digitization of processes and international disciplinary radiation through the organization of major competitions and active participation on global stages.

However, she insisted that this process is only at its premise. “We’re only starting a turning point. The CAVB is currently in talks with a major media outlet to ensure greater visibility of our discipline,” she said, emphasizing the need for a strategic partnership between sporting institutions and media.

It was as a result of this committed intervention that Ms. Hajij was presented with a trophy of recognition by the AIPS, saluting not only her visionary leadership at the head of continental volleyball, but also all the efforts made to raise this discipline to the rank it deserves in Africa and the world. world.

In honour of Ms. Hajij, AIPS also celebrates a sport in full transformation, driven by a strong will to write and share a new page in African volleyball history.
