NPFL Match Day 37: Remo Stars maintain dominance, Enyimba suffers shock loss

The match Day 37 of the 2024/2025 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) on Sunday, delivered stunning victories, dramatic upsets and intense competition among teams vying for top spots and survival.

The  reports that confirmed champions, Remo Stars FC of Ikenne proved their triumph was no fluke with a convincing 4-1 home thrashing of Ikorodu City of Lagos.
The win solidifies their position at the top of NPFL table with 71 points with:22 wins, 5 draws and 10 losses.

Ikorodu city are presently fourth on the league table with 56 points: 16 win, 8 draw and 13 losses.

Nasarawa United FC in a stunning upset, dealt a disastrous blow to Enyimba International of Aba ‘s continental title hopes with a 3-2 win in Lafia.

Enyimba ‘s loss allowed other teams to close in on the table thus intensifying the competition for continental slots.

Nasarawa United’s win places it on ninth on the league table with 52 points: 14 wins, 10 draws and 13 losses while Enyimba is sixth on 55 points: 14 wins , 13 draws and 10 losses.

Abia Warriors of Umuahia boosted their top three finish chances with a 2-1 win over El Kanemi Warriors at home, thus placing third with 60 points: 18 wins, 6 draws and 13 losses .

El Kanemi Warriors are however 16th on the league table with 46 points: 11 wins, 13 draws and 13 losses.

Akwa United of Uyo beat Bayelsa United at home 2-0 victory, placing 18th with 44 points: 12 wins, 8 draws and 17 losses while Bayelsa United are 13th with 49 points: 12 wins, 13 draws and 12 losses.

Plateau United of Jos claimed a 2-1 home win over relegated Lobi Stars, placing 10th with 51 points: 15 wins, 9 draws and 13 losses while Lobi Stars are rooted at the bottom of the table with 25 points: 5 wins, 10 draws and 22 losses.

Niger Tornadoes pulled off a stunning 2-1 victory away at Sunshine Stars of Akure and are 14th with 48 points: 13 wins, 9 draws and 15 losses while Sunshine Stars are 19th with 41 points: 11 wins, 8 draws and 18 losses.

Rangers International of Enugu hammered Katsina United 4-0, placing eight with 52 points: 14 wins, 10 draws and 13 losses while Katsina United are 15th with 47 points: 13 wins, 8 draws and 16 losses.

Heartland of Owerri lost to Bendel Insurance of Benin 0-1 to worsen its relegation worries, placing 17th with 45 points: 11 wins ,12 draws and 14 losses.

Bendel Insurance are 5th on the table with 56 points: 15 wins, 11 draws and 11 losses.

Kano Pillars triumphed over Shooting Stars of Ibadan at home 3-1, placing seventh with 53 points: 15 wins, 8 draws and 14 losses.

Shooting Stars on the other hand, are 11th with 51 points: 14 wins,nine draws and 14 losses.

Kwara United of Ilorin beat Rivers United of Port Harcourt 3-1 to place 12th with 50 points: 14,wins, eight draws 15 losses while River United are second with 61 points: 17 wins, 10 draws and 10 losses.

All is set for an exciting final match week 38 of the league with fierce justle for continental tickets and escape from relegation.
