Nasarawa Amazons secured a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Naija Ratels in their NWFL Super Six opener at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne. Naija Ratels took the lead with Rita Tsebee’s brilliant free-kick in the 11th minute.
However, Janet Akekeromowei equalized in the 39th munites with her 10th NWFL goal of the season, and the match was tied 1-1 at halftime.
In the second half, Nasarawa Amazons’ determination paid off when Josephine Mathias scored the winning goal in the 55th minute.
Technical Adviser Christopher Danjuma Musa said, “Getting the three points against Naija Ratels is normal, but we’ll take one game at a time. There’s no small team in the super six”.
