Ngo(Rivers), Thursday 24, 2025- Mr Atajit Francis, Sole Administrator of Andoni Local Government Area, has pledged to address the decaying infrastructure hindering primary healthcare delivery in the council area.
He made this known in Ngo during an inspection tour of healthcare centres in the area.
Atajit expressed dismay at the deplorable condition of some facilities, which he said had suffered setbacks due to the lack of basic amenities critical to grassroots healthcare delivery.
He emphasised that his efforts to revive primary healthcare centres aligned with the mandate given to the 23 local government sole administrators by the state government, under the leadership of Retired Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas.
Describing the state of the Uyangala Primary Healthcare Centre as worrisome, he directed the council’s Director of Works to immediately initiate a cost analysis and budgeting plan for remodeling the facility.
He also visited the Ngo Primary Healthcare Centre, where he found that the facility had been operating without electricity, water, and essential sanitary infrastructure.
The Administrator promised to address these deficiencies urgently.
“Primary healthcare is the first and closest point of care for our people.
“That’s why, within available resources, we will ensure these centres operate optimally.
“Our tenure may be short, but we aim to make a meaningful impact. While we serve, we will work to remodel moribund care centres and improve service delivery in our communities,” Atajit added
