NSC DG Hon. Bukola Olopade Celebrates Chief Solomon Ogba on Birthday, Hails Him as a Colossus in Athletics

The Director General of the National Sports Commission (NSC), Hon. Bukola Olopade, has extended warm birthday wishes to Chief Solomon Ogba, describing him as a towering figure in athletics globally and a treasured asset to the Nigerian sports family.

Chief Ogba, the First Vice President of the Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC), is celebrated not only for his illustrious contributions to sports administration but also for his trailblazing efforts in media as the founder of SportsDay newspaper.

In his birthday message, Hon. Olopade praised Ogba’s lifelong dedication to sports development in Nigeria and beyond.

“Chief Solomon Ogba is more than a name in Nigerian sports—his name reverberates on the global scene as a colossus. From his days as President of the Athletics Federation of Nigeria to his leadership roles in the NOC and Delta State, including numerous international assignments, he has consistently raised the bar,” Hon. Olopade stated.

“Chief Ogba is a well-respected authority whose impact transcends generations. He lives and breathes sports. He is a colossus of athletics in globally, and the nation continues to benefit immensely from his wisdom, leadership, and passion,” the D.G added.

A two-time Commissioner for Sports in Delta State, Chief Ogba also played a pivotal role as Chairman of the Local Organizing Committee for the 2024 National Youth Games, hosted in Delta State—an event widely acclaimed for its success and organization.

Concluding his tribute, Hon. Olopade remarked that Chief Ogba’s legacy is etched in the annals of Nigeria’s sports history and his commitment remains an inspiration to all around him.
