Dare Adesomo, head coach of Abuja-based Division 2 side Kicker FC’s, says friendly matches are less about results and more about player development and building team cohesion.

Adesomo, who is also the owner of the club, stated this in an interview with the in Abuja.

He emphasized that friendly games serves as vital tools for testing tactics, identifying weaknesses, and grooming young talents

According to Adesomo , “We have faced strong teams like the Flying Eagles, City FC, EFCC FC, and Sarkin Daji FC, and although we didn’t win, the experience has been invaluable.

“ The goal isn’t necessarily to win but to assess our players, sharpen our strategy, and build team chemistry,” he said.

Adesomo stressed that each match, regardless of the outcome, offers his players a chance to gain experience, improve teamwork, and develop critical skills.

“ These games have helped us grow mentally and tactically. They have boosted the players’ confidence and shown us areas to improve ahead of official competitions.

“We are building a team capable of competing at the highest level, and I’m confident we will make a strong impression in the coming tournaments,” he said.

Looking ahead, Coach Adesomo revealed that Kickers FC is preparing for the upcoming Abuja Municipal Area council (AMAC ) coaches football tournament and the State League both set for May.

“ The club also has its sights set on an upcoming tour of Europe,which Adesomo believes will further enhance the players’ exposure and development.

“ This focus on growth over results will pay off. We’re laying a solid foundation for the future of Kickers FC,” he concluded.
