2025 African Women’s Volleyball Club Championship: Defending champions , Al-Ahly , Zamalek in final

….Two Egyptians qualified to final of 2025 African Women’s Volleyball Club Championship, As host , Nigeria customs service (NCS ) and Chief of Naval Staff  Spikers play in classification matches.

Reigning Champion, Zamalek Sporting Club ( ZMK) of Egpyt and Al -Ahly Sporting club ( AHL) of Egpyt,have  recorded victories in their semi -final battles on friday at the ongoing 2025 African Women’s Volleyball Club Championship (AWVCC)  in Abuja.

Zamalek Sporting Club of Egypt defeated Kenya Pipeline Company Volleyball Club (KPC) 3-2 (25-23, 26-28, 25-19,24-26,15-12) in the first semi final .

“Today’s game was incredibly tough, but we gave it our all.

Unfortunately, luck wasn’t on our side. We’ll regroup and come back stronger next time. Despite the challenges, we pushed ourselves to fight until the very end.

“ I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude to our amazing fans, especially those from Nigeria who cheered us on throughout the tournament.

“ Your support means the world to us, and we appreciate it from the bottom of our hearts,” she said.

The second semi final match between Al-Ahly and fellow North African, CFC of Tunisia ended ,(l3-0 (25-15, 25-23, 25-21 ) in favour of the Egyptians.

Defending champions, Zamalek of Egypt will play fellow Egyptian power house Al-Ahly by 4pm  in the final on Sunday, 13th of April, 2025.

Following the victory, Al -Ahly Sporting club ,the nine-time winners (1999, 2000, 2003, 2007, 2009, 2015, 2016, 2018, 2019).

In their semi final berth , Al -Ahly Sporting club ( AHL) of Egpyt beat Kenya Prisons Volleyball Club (PRI) of Kenya  3 sets to 1 (25-12, 25-20, 22-25, 27-25).While Carthage of Tunisia defeated Litto Team Volleyball (LTV) of Cameroon won with three straight set wins 3-0 (25-21, 25-19, 25-22) .

All  finals matches will be played on Sunday at the Indoor Sports hall  of Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja,with 16 teams participating from April 1 to April 14 ,2025.

Zamalek will be playing in their third consecutive final having won the last two editions in 2023 and 2024.

In other classifications, Kenya Commercial Bank (Kenya) defeated Armee Patriotique Rwandaise of Forces (APR) of Rwanda 3-2 in the five to eight classification matches.

Kenya Prisons volleyball Club ( PRI) gain a victory over Litto Team Volleyball ( LTV) of Cameroon 3-0 (25-18, 25-14, 25-16)to secured a comfortable in the five to sixth classification matches.

Club Ominisports Descartes (OMD) of Côte d’Ivoire on defeated Spiking Stars Volleyball (SSV) of Botswana 3-1(19-25,26-24,25-21,25-19)

to record their first win in the 13th to 16th classification match  played  at the Gymnasium .

They will now face Mayo Kani Evolution (MKE ) after beating Sococim ( SOC) of Senegal 3-0 (25-18,25-19,25-21) in final ranking for position 13th to 14th classification match .  while SSV will play Sococim ( SOC) of Senegal in position 15th to 16th classification match .

Sococim of Senegal lost 0-3  to Mayo Kani Evolution. MKE victory will set them to play in final ranking position of 13-14, SOC will play in 15-16 position.

Nigeria customs service (NCS ) beat Volleyball Club La LOI (VLL) from the Democratic Republic of Congo ( 25-17,25-17,25-12) in classification of ninth to 10 position.

Also,Police of Rwanda overpowered Chief of Naval Staff of Nigeria  Spikers 3-1. ( 28-30,25-7,26-24,25-19) The Rwandans will play in the final ranking for position 9-10, whiles CNS  Spikers will play for position 11 to 12th position.

The ultimate program for the 39th CAVB Women’s African Volleyball Club Championship Abuja 2025 ,On Saturday – Final Ranking games.

Sunday  -Bronze and Gold Medal matches.
