Defending champion edge closer to title defense of Women’s African Volleyball Club Championship in Abuja

Reigning champions Defending champions, Zamalek Sporting Club (ZMK) of Egypt,edged closer to defending the title after beating Club Ominisports Descartes( OMD)  of Cote d’Ivoire 3-0 (25-8, 25-15, 25-15)

ZMK of Egpyt quickly demonstrated why they are the top in Africa with superb control of the ball, skillful touches and driving spikes when required.

They got off to a slow start with a few mis-hits, but then started scoring to raced ahead to take the set 25-8.

ZMK of Egypt started the 2nd set with a bang leading 15-8. OMD failed to response as the defending champions claimed the set 25-15.

OMD  of Cote d’Ivoire were struggling in the third set. They had little effect to the score line even after scoring an ace.

ZMK of Egypt gained from a couple of OMD of Cote d’Ivoire faults and an ace and then fed the ball for the match point, a super spike! ZMK of Egypt won 25-15.

In other matches , Litto Team Volleyball (LTV) of Cameroon beat  Chief Naval of Staff (CNS) Spikers  of Nigeria 3-1 (25-22, 25-18, 18-25, 25-17)

,Two-time champions CFC of Tunisia  through to the quarterfinals after a 3-0 (25-11, 25-17, 25-20) win over Sococim of Senegal in their round of 16 .

Al Ahly Sporting club (AHL) of Egypt defeated Mayo Kani Evolution (MKE) of Cameroon in a 3-0 ( 25-17,25-19,25-15 ) victory.

Police Volleyball Club ( PVC) of Rwanda P vs Kenya Prisons Volleyball Club (PRI) of Kenya  2-3(23-25,25-19,20-25,25-2110-15 ).

Kenya Pipeline  company Volleyball Club ( KPC) of Kenya Vs Spiking Stars Volleyball (SSV ) of Botswana 3-0( 25-15,25-12,25-6 ).

16 teams are participating in the championship holding between April 1 to April 14, 2025.
