The 2022 winners, Kenya Commercial Bank Volleyball Club ( KCB) started their campaign with a 3-0 (25-15 ,25-18, 25-12) victory against Volleyball Club La Loi ( VLL) of Democratic Republic of Congo in Pool C.
This is the last matched played at the indoor hall of Moshood Abiola National Stadium In Abuja on Friday saw a big hits from VLL put them in a slight lead.
However, KCB quickly reasserted themselves as lack of enthusiasm and poor communication resulted in VLL falling back to KCB to lost the first set 25-15.
It was a fight for the Second set with both teams fully engaged. It was point for point until an unforced hitting error from VLL gave KCB the lead.
KCB showed the most determination and closed the set out 25-18.
KCB maintained their momentum in the third set to lead 16-7. Error from VLL as KCB took advantage to nail the set 25-12.
Others matches saw Litto Team Volleyball (LTV) of Cameroon beat 25- 18, 25-14,25-22 Club Omnisports Descartes ( COD) of Côte d’Ivoire in pool D.
Chief of Naval Staff (CNS ) Spikers defeated Spiking Stars Volleyball (SSV) of Botswana 3-0 ( 25-22,25-21,25-8) in pool B.
In Gymnasium hall,Zamalek Sporting Club (ZMK) of Egypt ( defending champions) outshine Kenya Prisons Volleyball Club (PRI) of Kenya 3-0 ( 25-23 25-17,25-23) in pool B
Pool C comprises of Al Ahly Sporting club ( AHL) of Egpyt, Kenya Commercial Bank Volleyball Club (KCB) of Kenya,
VolleyballClub La LOI ( VLL) of Democratic Republic of Congo and Sococim(SOC) of Senegal .
Sixteen teams are participating in the championship which began on April 1 to 14 at the Moshood Abiola National stadium Abuja.
