The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has been drawn in Pool A and will face off against Mayo Kani Evolution (MKE) of Cameroon on Thursday’s opening day of the 2025 African Women’s Volleyball Club Championship in Abuja.
The tournament is being hosted by Nigeria, with sixteen teams on Wednesday confirmed to participate from April 1st to April 14 at the Moshood Abiola National stadium in Abuja.
The NCS were drawn in pool A alongside Mayo Kani Evolution (MKE),Armee Patriotique Rwandaise Volleyball Club (APR) of Rwanda, Club Femini De Carthage (CFC) of Tunisia.
NCS will face Mayo Kane Evolution in their opening match by 5p.m infront of home fans with support from the Chief Patron, the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria
Senator Oluremi Tinubu, CON, and will declare open the much-awaited 2025 Women’s African Volleyball Club Championship today, Thursday .
The draw, conducted in Abuja, revealed tough competition for Nigeria as they seek to clinch the title for the first time in the tournament’s history.
While Club Femini De Carthage (CFC) will hook up with Armee Patriotique Rwandaise Volleyball Club (APR) by 10 a.m on same day.
The competition was done at Exclusive Serene Hotel in Abuja in presence of CAVB president and FIVB Vice president Bouchra Hajij.
A technical meeting was held on Wednesday during which organizers reaffirmed their readiness to host a successful tournament.
Also in attendance are the presence of CAVB president and FIVB Vice president Bouchra Hajij, Comptroller General of Customs (CGC), Bashir Adewale Adeniyi , Habu Gumel (NOC), Musa Nimrod president of Nigeria volleyball, and also all the representatives of the 16 participating clubs and others.
The tournament is,a biennial international tournament organised by the African volleyball confederation (CAVB) .
The tournament will feature 16 teams already confirmed.

Pool B:Zamalek Sporting Club ( ZMK) of Egpyt, Kenya Prisons Volleyball Club (PRI) of Kenya, Chief of Naval staff( CNS), and Spiking Stars Volleyball (SSV) of Botswana
Pool C: Al Ahly Sporting club ( AHL) of Egpyt, Kenya Commercial Bank Volleyball Club (KCB) of Kenya,
VolleyballClub La LOI ( VLL) of Democratic Republic of Congo and Sococim(SOC) of Senegal .
Others are in Pool D ,Litto Team Volleyball (LTV) of Cameroon ,Kenya Pipeline Company Volleyball Club (KPC) of Kenya, Police Volleyball Club (PVC) of Rwanda and Club Ominisports Descartes of Cote d’Ivoire .
The top three teams of the tournament qualified for the 2025 FIVB Volleyball Women’s World championship as the CAVB representatives.
Two matches will be played on Thursday, CFC Vs APR by 10 a.m and NCS Vs MKE by 5p.m
The opening ceremony is by 4pm.
The event promises to be a showcase of top-tier volleyball talent from across the continent.
while giving hint on the event, Sports Secretary of Nigeria Customs Samuel Onikeku at the Technical Meeting on Wednesday said that First Lady will be at stadium to declared the event open. As 14 Volleyball academies will be on ground to watch the teams.
